Ken Savage, who was instrumental in arranging for the Little Court House Museum in Bolivar, Tennessee to host New Harmonies, shared a personal testimony about the impact hosting a MoMS exhibition had on the community and on him personally:
"Saturday, was our last day for the New Harmonies exhibit. It was a sad and a happy day, as we packed it up and Trina from Carthage, TN and her group came and got it. We had them loaded up and gone Saturday night, ahead of schedule. This has been an experience I will always look back on with pride. We reached much further then we hope to, as we achived all our goals and much more. I don't have all the totals, but we put over 1800 kids though the exhibit. Not only did they see a first class exhibit that most never would have, but we also taught them how to write and sing their own songs. We started "Music on the Square" just to promote the exhibit. What was to be a one month thing in June will finally end this next weekend, September 26. Next June we'll be back as our "2nd Annual APTA ~ Music on the Square" will be starting up again.
By us having the exhibit made me personally reach inside and give more of myself then I have ever done before. By doing so, I feel as I have done a lot for the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA) and our community. It is a good feeling inside and I hope to continue to help APTA and Bolivar to grow. I am also very happy my name was entered into the First Annual Governor's Volunteer Stars Award, and will be representing Hardeman County as its first honoree. I will be in Nashville October 27, to meet the Governor and have pictures made. This is truly my greatest achievement. I just want to thank you again, for giving me and APTA this opportunity...."
Ken, we are thrilled by your success and appreciate the enthusiasm and hard work demonstrated by you and your entire committee.
